Food was good. Service was wonderful. Ambiance was Great. Total surf shack vibe. Food is typical bar food. The staff was super nice and helpful.
If you have not gone to whiskey Joe's for happy hour, you're missing out. Happy hour usually runs Monday through Friday 3 to 6 PM offering drinks and specific food items for a deal. Honestly everything on the menu looks so good so we got a lot of the items like chips and queso, boneless wings, mahi nuggets, fish tacos And we got a couple drinks a margarita, strawberry mule(not a fan) and a rum runner which idk how I ever drank those in the past but the flavor wasn't for me so I stuck with the margarita it was nice. Now the food was pretty decent mahi Nuggets were an overcooked and so were the boneless wings both had a tough texture to them but the fish tacos were delicious I loved the chunky mango salsa on top. Also, the chips and dip were good. The chips were seasoned perfectly some better than others which I like. We really enjoyed sitting outside especially when the weather has been beautiful. Nice breeze in the sun but once it sets it gets pretty cold but luckily they have fireplaces outside you can sit and relax by. Would definitely come back to try some more variety menu items.
I recently ate at Whiskey Joe's on the Manatee River just south of the Ellington outlet mall. We ate on the outside deck and had a fabulous view of the river! There is also a really fun (and very large) sand area outside with tables, lounge chairs, games, etc. There is also a tiki bar in the sand area and all of the drinks coming from the bar looked really good. I had the Island Pork Sandwich, which was delicious and I wanted to take home a large tub of the strawberry-guava BBQ sauce that was served with it. The sandwich was served with my favorite... sweet potato fries. Our server was friendly and gave us great service. We will definitely be back soon.
I have a lot of pride for fellow yelpers' accuracy of ratings for restaurants but I gotta say they got this one wrong! My jambalaya dish was really, really good! It was gluten free which made my picking of it easy. The shrimp and sausage were the best parts, and the chicken to me had an interesting taste so that was my least favorite part. The flavors were excellent and it was a great balance of all ingredients. Our server was friendly, helpful, and attentive and we loved the vibes. Good music, shady patio, views of the water...a true escape-type feel (if you can ignore Hwy 75...ha). If you're up at Ellenton Outlets or in the area, I would highly recommend stopping here. Everything was very clean too and there's a ton of tables. I will definitely be back!
